Julius K. Maina, Mpsch (Master of Psychology) is a license-eligible mental health counselor (LMHC) born and raised in Kenya. His work in the areas of psychological counseling, community and leadership development, and faith-based interventions has taken him across the globe. Julius has worked for different organizations in Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Thailand, UK and the United States. One of his most rewarding experiences came in the 1990s while working with Rwandese refugees who survived the genocide and were displaced in Tanzania. This experience propelled him toward faith-based organizations where he developed various community programs for vulnerable groups.

Currently, Julius’ work is focused on providing individual, couples, and family therapy. He has engaged these individuals through outpatient and in-home programs in the greater Boston area. He believes in a client-centered approach, remaining non-judgmental, maintaining unconditional positive regard and applying motivational interviewing in counseling others. He is a committed Christian and leader. He strives to help clients increase self-awareness, self-appraisal, and self-acceptance. He is Married to Beatrice Kamau, together they are blessed with five children and Four Grandchildren.

Julius has earned his Associates degree in Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling & Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Community Psychology at the University of Nairobi. A lover of learning, Julius aspires to earn a doctoral degree.
